We’re proud to announce that Tunto is taking part in the World Expo 2010, held in Shanghai, China. This is a fantastic opportunity to for Tunto: more than 70–100 million visitors are expected to visit the Expo, the largest in history. We expect to reach masses of new audiences and make excellent connections during the Expo. Tunto can be found at Finland’s Kirnu pavillion.
In more good news, Tunto has just been nominated – for the second year in a row – for the Design award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2011 with our LED1 and LED2 lamps. The award is given for outstanding achievements in the fields of product and communication design, as well as to a celebrity from the world of design.
Our agents are continuing to do a great job for Tunto. We recently took part in the Milan fair via our new agency, Finnform, in Italy, and we also have a new agency in Belgium, Swytch.

We’re extremely happy to tell you that Tunto has just recently won another one of the most prestigious and coveted design awards in the world – the international red dot design award – with our new LED2 lamp.
Designed by Tunto owner and founder Mikko Kärkkäinen, the LED2 is the “big brother” of the award-winning LED1 lamp, which claimed the red dot award last year. The LED2 takes the innovativeness and the distinctive design of the original LED1 to the floor, into larger size and onto a whole new level, providing eye-catching illumination for all kinds of spaces. The lamp makes uses of the same touch-sensitive switch innovations and technology as the LED1.
We feel that this award further proofs that the Tunto quality and level of innovation and design are being recognized at the highest possible level. It’s extremely rare for the same company being awarded with the red dot prize two years in a row. Not even the biggest brands or manufacturers have been able to achieve this.
It goes without saying that we’re really happy about this – thank you!
Carrying on the tradition of the past years, Tunto will again be taking part in the international imm cologne 2010 design fair in Cologne, Germany, from the 19th to the 24th of January, 2010.
Traditionally, the new furniture and design year starts at imm cologne. This year, imm cologne will again reveal which trends will be the hot items this year. Through inspired presentations, the exhibition halls are transformed into an experience of future furniture. At imm cologne you will find the complete spectrum of what international furniture and interior design has to offer collected in a single place.
At the fair, Tunto will showcase new products, such as the new, eagerly-awaited LED2 lamp. We’re proud to announce that our LED1 and LED2 lamps have been picked out for the imm hitguide department, which showcases the most interesting products of the event.

We’re glad to announce that Tunto has just recently won the international Good Design Award for New Product Design with our LED1 lamp.
The Good Design Award is conferred annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Good Design was founded in Chicago in 1950 by architects Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, and Edgar Kaufmann Jr. It bestows international recognition upon the world’s most prominent designers and manufacturers for advancing new, visionary, and innovative product concepts, invention and originality, and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered ordinary product and consumer design.

2009 was great, 2010 will be even better
We enjoyed a successful year in 2009. Our LED1 lamp won the prestigious red dot design award in product design, plus was nominated for the international Deutsche Designpreis award.
As for 2010, the Good Design Award was a great start. This year looks very promising for Tunto, with new products launching and our designs receiving ever-growing international praise. Our goal, which is to evolve into an internationally recognized design brand and manufacturer, is being realized as we speak. Now we are trying to grow even better and wiser in product design and production, expand our distribution channels and spread the Tunto message to the people in the form of our unique products.

The main exhibition for Finnish Design Month opens in Madrid
Helsinki Madrid FinDesign, which is a presentation of Finnish design, will open at the
beginning of November in Madrid at the Contemporary Art Center in Matadero. The varied and interactive exhibition will have over several hundred
products from Finnish companies and designers representing many different design areas and viewpoints. The
exhibition will be open until January.
